You know that, right? - Fried chicken, fried fish, fried everything! (Eww!) (Heart attack much?) - Accents are gross. - In the summer, not only it's hot, it's also soooo effing humid and sticky that you have to take showers sometimes more than twice a day. Eww. - Sometimes, even to this day, ppl of color can be asked to leave restaurants.

Slavery lasted the longest and was held strongest there, racism was also (and, sometimes, still is) a big part of history including segregation and the KKK, and when people still think of the South there are still a lot of ideas of prejudice and oppression existing there even today. And, legally-speaking, many small Southern towns are thought of as "good ol' boys" towns where they cover the backs of their own, even when you commit an obvious crime your town will still proclaim your innocence and do anything and everything to clear your name. None of this means it's TRUE, but it's just the idea of the South. I don't think there are similar names for any of the other regions... but each region does have its own common stereotypes of what a typical town and person is in that area. But its not always true for we also have a great deal of "southern hospitality"; and most people I know prefer living in the southern part of the U.S for that reason. Anyway; The North doesn't really have one but we refer to them as "Yankee's" a lot. (Not trying to offend anyone, I'm just raised in a very southern oriented little town and that word is used alot.) Theres the "Old West", or the northern part of the east "The New England" states. But these aren't very commonly used.
