What to do about loud and obscene rap music in public?

I’ve found myself on a couple of occasions recently having to listen to foul profanity-laced rap music blaring from somebody’s car speakers. What would you do if you didn’t want to borrow trouble?

Usually those blasting this type of music are nothing but trouble. If you don’t want trouble following you, I would just look the other way and give no indication of disgust. What you really want to do is get your hands on the person and tell them they are a complete fool, but it’s best to just pay no mind to them.

Argh, ghetto blasters. I live in NYC so one of these jerks drives by my house every 10 minutes or so. Just don’t pay attention to them because that’s what they want.

You should really just get over it.

There’s really nothing you CAN do other than call the police if the city has a noise ordinance (most are after 10pm and before 7 or 8 am). It’s not worth risking life or limb over. These people that play their stereos so loud apparently have no idea the kind of feelings they stir up in otherwise nice, peace loving folks (I’ve often wished I was a better shot…..I would shoot the speakers out of the back of my neighbors car…..yes, I’m a little bit of a redneck….).

I hate that stuff too. What really gets me more than the actual lyrics or w/e is the GD bass. My whole house rattles and shakes. I mean, really? Is that necessary? How can they even enjoy the music? I’m with EvilWoman..I’m not a redneck, but I have seriously considered smashing in their windows and ripping out their stereo equipment, lol. If it’s someone that lives in your neighborhood, maybe leave an anonymous note saying it’s rude and unappreciated. I’ve thought about that also. But, some people are just rude and disrepectful and nothing will work.
