What is the difference between the pulse and beats per minute?

So i volunteer in the ER at a hospital…and there is a monitor in every patient’s room and on the monitor it displays the pulse and beats per minute for that patient….almost always the two numbers are different…but when i looked it up on google, it said that the pulse and bpm are the same thing so im like what the heck?! can anyone help me out with this???

It’s checking from two different monitors. The heart monitor and the pulse ox monitor. Pulse is measured in bpm.

I think they are the same thing. Maybe the numbers on the monitor are pertaining to the blood pressure? IDK.

there are strong and weak pulses. beats per minute is just timing.
