To tell you the truth, nowadays hip hop beats are so easy to make that middle schooler's can learn. I'm not bashing it, I'm just saying it's easy to learn. Get a program like Mixcraft, which I got for $40 bucks, and just mess with the virtual instrument tracks. With a little experimentation you will learn very quickly. It's really not that hard.

I use this program to do my acoustic music and my rock/metal and my jazz. It's really easy to use, especially if you've ever used Garage Band on a Mac.
