In the case of Barrera I think that he grossly underestimated Manny. Manny is a menace much like Tyson was in the early 80's. What happens is that eventhough Manny may not be the best technical boxer out there, he certainly has the power and agressiveness of a mad pit bull. He is relentless and determined. However as soon as he is forced to box, not slug it out, his weaknesses are exposed. He killed Marquez and let him live and lived to regret it. Marquez made a few changes and had Manny back peddling for 9 rounds and escaped with a much debated draw. In the first Morales fight, Morales the boxer clearly outclassed Manny and toyed with him. He completely neutralized Manny's superior power with speed and agility. Sad to say, Morales the puncher was no match for the PacMan in their next two fights.

So as soon as the fighter comes out of more skilled fighters, when their machismo comes out, they're all but done when they fight against Pacman. That's his forte, if you fight and slug it out with him chances are you'll end up looking up at the neon lights. If you box him you got a chance of surviving and winning.

Pac has already made it big in my eyes. He's not the most skilled guy I agree, but he's fast & hits hard. Those two things often make up for lacking technical abilities. Just look at Roy Jones. He did/does so many things that are techinally wrong, but was so fast nobody could beat him until he was older & slower. Tyson would be another example. Had good technical skills early on, but insane power. After he let his boxing skills go by the way side he became a very average boxer, but his power kept him on top of the division.

Have you watched any of Pacquiao's fight? If so, you'll be able to see the improvement of his boxing skill, from his first fight with Erik Morales (the fight that led to his international fame) up to his latest fight (last month with Solis).

He's young, 27, agressive on the ring, determined to win, have a great coach ( Freddie Roach, also the coach of Oscar dela Hoya) and he really have a mean punch.

You should watch his fight to see how good a boxer her is . . .=o)

His power, speed, aggression, stamina, and sheer tenacity. He has undying heart and is always in the fight. Even if he isn't the best technical boxer, his fearlessness and ferocity normally pull him through. He is the best 130 lber in the world, an arguably the best P4P(unless Floyd beats Oscar).
