it can really be anything, but you need to make sure that the bottom of the shoe isn’t too sticky on the marley floors.
i have used kangaroos, champions (they look like jazz sneakers without being clunky), and jazz sneakers. the champions are my personal favorite. i got them at payless for $20.

kay, i’ma disagree with everyone on here so far. you CAN wear converse, but i found they ain’t that comfy when your tryna dance, spesh hip hop/street. but that was just the hi tops, maybe the short ones would be good, i dunno.
i’m gonna say get yourself a pair of nike’s. nothing expensive if you cant afford it, so steer clear of the air force one’s & those, but get a pair of the basics. they’ll be good for a looonngg time, and are the comfiest shoe i’ve ever worn for dancing.

any sneakers will do. just no tennis shoes cuz they look hideous when u dance to hiphop in them. i would say nike airs, converses, and adidas superstars

It’s not the shoes…
Anything you like basically can be Hip Hop. Hip Hop people choose what kind of shoes they want and make them Hip Hop. Yes you can use converse, I have an all black pair.

converse? mostly for Rockers, Punks and Emos. why don’t you try Skechers? or some shoes that comfortable for dancing. :]

converse, gallaz, globalize…
if you wanted to go with dance brands go with bloch, capezio etc. but these are dangerous to wear normally.

there called dance sneakers- bloch, capezio and sansha make good quality dance sneakers. they are a bit expensive but if you are really looking for something inexpensive, a pair of athletic sneakers that are all black (like k-swiss) work just as fine.
converses are not the best (exspecially the high-top ones) because they don’t allow you very well to bend and point your toes and don’t show any support for your feet either.

roch valley jazz trainers, they have arched shoes so that they bend and they have a bit at the end that’s kinda squared of so that you can go up on your toes here is a picture…
