Texas is the southwest, not the south.

I have no idea what the "dirty south" means, but this is probably coming from a Yankee.

I never consider Texas " the south"
There’s the south ( MS AL FL GA SC etc) , the southwest AZ NM some of CA) …….and then there is TEXAS.

Neither.

Texas is Southern I guess, but I think it’s kind of a mix of Southern, Mid West, American Desert, and American-Mexican border style.

Northern Florida is extremely "southern" see: Jacksonville, Orlando. Southern Florida is more Carribean infuenced, particularly around Miami, FL and also has a lot of people from the North.

The most "southern" US states would be Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia.

Jacksonville, FL is referred to as northern Florida or Southern Georgia.
I lived in JAX for 5 years and I am now back in Texas. Northern Florida is the south. Texas is the Southwest.
