Should I see a doctor if my heart beats really fast?
Posted by adminFeb 7
I’m 20 years old and I’m just wondering if I should see a doctor. My heart will beat really hard and fast for as little as a few minutes and has lasted up to half an hour. I never thought it was an issue until now because its happened four times in one week. I become really light headed with moderate chest pain. Should I consult my doctor? Any advice would be great!

I think you should check with your doctor, it never hurts to check and see!

Make an appointment immediately. Feeling light headed and chest pain are both nothing to play around with and are certainly not normal to most people.

Please go to the ER and get checked up-the average beats per min is from 60 beat/min-80beat/min if its higher or lower than this consistently then u should definitely get checked-don’t over think it, your body is telling you something is wrong, take the hint before it tries a different way to get your attention. You may be hyperventilating or having an asthma attack (my brother had a fast heartbeat and breathing diff. a couple weeks back and we took him to the ER he was hyperventilating apparently). Seriously please go get checked up! Better to be safe then sorry- Good Luck

I agree with Joshue. Given your age, it’s the first thing that came to my mind as soon as read your question.
Have you been under a significant amount of stress, lately?? If so, then it probably is anxiety.
There are many ways to help control anxiety. I would look into this first-
http://www.helpguide.org/mental/anxiety_types_symptoms_treatment.htm I would try some of the techniques they offer.
Slowing your breathing down works really well for me; when this happens Take in a deep breath, hold it for about 5-6 secs and then let it out AS SLOWLY AS POSSIBLE. Keep doing this until your heart rate slows down and you feel better. If you do this on a regular basis, it helps in preventing future attacks.
At this point, if these things are not working for you and you keep having these episodes, I would definitely seek professional advice/help
Also, if it is anxiety, you definitely want to get it under control.(some people do need medication if other methods don’t work) Otherwise, they will get worse (you’ll have more symptoms) and eventually you might end up with panic attacks. Trust me, you do not want this to happen. As if anxiety attacks weren’t bad enough; panic attacks are even worse!!!! You do not want to go through this.
I hope it is just anxiety, opposed to anything more serious.(which I doubt)
and no matter what, I hope you feel better soon-Just relax, more importantly, just breath!!!!!
Hang in there, everythings going to be okay, I promise.
