It’s kind of hard to generalize the genre on a whole. Rap is simply a style of music in which there is a focus on rhythm. Will Smith is a rapper but he isn’t in the least bit offensive. I’m more of a fan of early hardcore rap—say Wu-Tang Clan, 2Pac, Big Pun, etc.—and I wouldn’t consider that offensive for mature audiences; it’s just an accurate description of the lifestyles they were raised with. I would say that many contemporary rap artists are offensive and unnecessarily vulgar but it would be unfair to pinpoint that on rap—there are some really offensive punk, metal, rock bands, etc.

Retards attempting poetry? what are you like 5 years old? I think thats the only age group that find that line entertaining.
Anyways, most rappers just rap about what they know and if they offend people then oh well, you can’t please everyone all the time. That, my friend is impossible.

I think it’s a pretty unfair generalization to say that all rap is offending. Depending on the song or artist, some of it gets 1 and some of it gets a 10 for me.

1, being the lowest of thinking it's offence and 10, being the highest of thining it's offence? Ok Ummm…..
I ain't giving it no 10 or 9 cuz there is alot of meaningful it's just not always played.
I'll give it…. a 5 for half/half. ( or 6).
Because some got meaning actually, ALOT has meaning and sends a messages, it ain't played always, but it is I listened to alot (I like almost every rap song LOL).
It does have alot of offenice in it like it can offend people, sometimes a woman gets a offence in rap I don't but some do and it can have some mean wanting-to-kill-ya-or-hurt-ya lyrics, but others send messages and talks about what's going on and how you should make a change and how people should stop all that bad stuff and about god, and etc.. so on the scale probably 5 for half and half idk if it's more mean stuff the sending message stuff cuz I didn't count but it's more known to be offence so on the scale of what other people think would probably be an 8 but for the other people that think it's more message sending like that stuff might be something else like lower like maybe a 4 or something. Depends.
I'd say 4-5-6 one of those.
At 1 being the least offence and 10 being the most offence.
EDIT:: When I'm rating this scale I'm talking about, shotting guns, having beef, dissing people, talking bad about a girl, or etc..
IDK how many people get offenice but I don't mind it at all some can be kinda harsh but I don't mind it it's just music and ain't always true and if it is then oh well it is. They wanna tell ya about it.
EDIT::
P.S.: It's not just rap. Any music can, ok well the next one that would besides rap or today r&b (strangly r&b =/) would be rock and that'll probably be the same idk if it'll have more offence or not, I'm not a big rock listener but my dad listens to it alot so I hear it in the truck on the radio or in the garage or when he plays a rock CD alot or metal or something like that so I heard some of it to know it's KINDA like rap, but different words and over a guitar and not all that slang and etc..

Rap just sucks anyway I know I’ll get lots of thumbs downs in this section but they need some talent these guys. They can’t even use a real instrument and use some real talent to create some real music. Why do they call it music? How do they make so much money? Where is the justice when rock bands struggle to get gigs and make a living writing proper songs when rappers make millions for writing a load of bullshit about being in gangs and gettin’ some? It makes no sense. Whoever created rap sucks. Listen to some rock and you will realize how much more talent it requires and how much better it is to listen to.

I will give rap a 10 on the scale. Because some rappers just rap for entertainment. Like Lil Wayne for example. They are just rapping about what people want to here. But then their are rappers like Common who basically recites poetry in a rap form. He raps about life and the hood he grew up in. A lot of people just take it wrong and it seems offending to them. But it isn’t meant to offend anyone.
