My friends and I are starting an openly gay hip hop group consisting of 3 members, any tips on how we can get exposure and penetrate the hip hop market?

Does it matter if your gay or not? If you’re truly good you should get respected no matter your sexual direction.

Honestly I would say don’t do it. Not because you’re gay because I’m gay as well, but for the simple reason that the hip hop industry just isn’t ready for an openly gay artist (let alone an openly gay group) my friends and I did the same things years ago that you and your friends are doing now. Our strength was that we were a gay group and no one else that was on the market was like us. But our strength was also our weakness, because we were openly gay no one wanted to sign us. The closest we came to success as a group was performing at gay prides across the U.S and that gets old after a while because you aren’t making any money that way. Even though being gay is a beautiful thing to us as gay men, to the rest of the world we are unfortunately just looked at as pure homosexuals. The world will be ready for a gay group oneday but unfortunatly not today. Love JBH

You’re going about this all wrong. Don’t have your hook be "We’re gay" have it be "We are the illest rappers around". Tupac’s sell wasn’t his sexuality, why should that be yours?
