If and this is only if paquiao fights mayweather next and beats him, will people finally appreciate Manny? Or will they say PBF was washed up or rusty from his "vacation"?

I dont think so, people just cant accept that Manny Pacquiao is the best fighter right now. Youre right, Mayweather fans will certainly find excuses to "protect" Mayweather's "legacy"

manny is appreciated by the vast majority of fans, and win or lose against mayweather or marquez 3, or any of the top welterweights, i'll still think highly of him.

Manny Pacquio is the # 1 guy P4P and has one fighter of the year the last two years in a row. The man has become an icon in his own country as well as The world. Their isn't a boxer with the exception of maybe Muhammad ali or Oscar Dela Hoya that is more popular than Manny Pacquio right now I don't know what type of apparition you want the guy is the most respected fighter in Boxing.

IF Pacquiao beats Mayweather jr., by CLEAR KO or CLEAR Decision, then people would know for sure who is pound for pound champion. It really depends how Pacquiao beats Mayweather. And NO….they can't say Mayweather jr. was "washed up" or "rusty" because he would have already had a warm-up fight with Juan Manuel Marquez.

For your information, Manny Pacquiao is now UNIVERSALLY ACKNOWLEDGED AS THE BEST POUND-FOR-POUND BOXER. When he knocked out Hatton last month, boxing experts and writers put his name up there among the legends of the sport. He's been "Fighter of the Year" two years in a row now and recently declared the "Best Fighter of the Decade". ISN'T THAT APPRECIATION?? Manny doesn't need Floyd Jr. to be appreciated. He's proven that he's the best in boxing and his humility and quiet dignity make him a well-loved sports hero.

pacquiaos true sportsman behaviour IN or OUT of the ring by itself is one of the best if not the best. that alone earns respect from boxing fans and sports fan in general. But there are people out there who just cant accept facts, and btw, pbf vs pacman will never happen, simply because mayweather will price himself out of that bout. he will ask for at least 60-40 in his favor (win or lose with JMM). one easy way out of a good beating.

I am a Mayweather fan and I already appreciate Manny's skills but I must say that all theose people saying that Manny is going to "destroy" Floyd when no one before hasn't even come CLOSE to that are either:
1)Floyd haters (most likely)
2Filipino
3) or don't know ANYTHING about boxing
The REAL question should be "Will people FINALLY respect Floyd's skills when he beats Pacquiao?" I doubt it. Some other fighter will get hyped up and they'll want to put him up against Floyd. Who's gonna be next after Manny?
Oh and also…….I don't want to hear ANY EXCUSES as to why Manny lost ( Floyd running, holding, blah, blah-blah, blah, blah!!!!)
The name of the game is hit and don't get hit. If you want to see fighters throwing wild haymakers with wreckless abandonment, then I suggest UFC!!!!!! THIS IS BOXING!!!!!!!!!
To the guy below who commented on my post: The difference is Mayweather is still undefeated, so until then HE IS THE BEST. But F it. Just take his damn belt Floyd!!!!!

On the contrary to what the guy on top said, the same thing could be said to Mayweather fans who wouldnt acknowledge Manny as the best despite his accomplishments . They would either be
1. Manny haters
2. Black
3. People who REALLY dont know anything about boxing.
4. Bitter fans who's icons got beat by Manny
I am actually a Marquez and Pacquiao fan and I have all the respect for Floyd but until the day Mayweather finally fights Cotto, I will never acknowledge him as the best. Sorry
And to answer your question. There are many people who love Manny but there are just as many haters as well. You simply just cant please anyone.

Manny is good and is considered the best but to me he's not the best yet. Sure he beat Delahoya(famous not Top pound for pound) and then Hatton(overrated that didn't do anything to get that fight) but he hasn't faced a contender at his level. TO the casual boxing fan he is the best(most don't see regular fights or know a boxers history/resume) but for hardcore/educated fans its always a different view. Floyd to me is nothing special(not a hater just a view) and would lose to Manny(not be destory but you never know) due to many reasons(like catch weight, Manny wants 140 or 143 not higher) It would be a hell of a fight for Floyd and a high chance of both losing. If Manny won he would be Pound for pound for casual fans no doubt and for hardcore/educated more would most likely agree.
Manny needs to fight at least one of the Pound for Pound boxers his year and i would be happy. As for Floyd there is no excuses for him not to fight the best this year(even though he is already making some! Reason i'm not a fan)

Manny is well-appreciated… Winning against Floyd would cement his legacy as the Henry Armstrong of this generation..
