How should I blend preppy and hip-hop fashion?

I like both fashions, but I’m white so it’s obviously easier for me to "pull off" the preppy look. What I’m looking for is ways to incorporate more hip-hop fashion into it. I’ve been able to take one step with my choice in sneakers. Any suggestions?

My best guy friend dresses very "urban", he’s white too. White guys can deff pull of the hip-hop look as long as they don’t go overboard. Wear bolder color combinations like red/blue, yellow/green and bright green/navy. DO wear pink.
Hip-hop fashions differ regionally but where I live (Philly) guys care a lot about their sneakers.

Wear cardigans with graphic tees. That would kinda mix the two styles. Plaid shirts ride the line between hip-hop and preppy. Also, try layering plaid shirts under like AE sweaters. DO NOT WEAR BAGGY PANTS. Those went out of style like 2 years ago. Straight leg jeans that are "stacked" over crazy sneakers are more "in" now.

a sweater vest in maybe a solid color, with a button up shirt underneathe
some baggy baggy jeans, and some jordans, nikes, or adidas

A lot of my guy friends pull this look off pretty well. You have sneakers so I would get some straight leg jeans, polos, graphic tees and a few cardigans. You should just play around with those things until you find a happy medium. And color is important. You can have classic preppy staples in a new color, like a bright blue instead of navy. So yeah, I hope I helped.

my 1rst seggestion 2 u is PLZ make sure you dont look like a wannabe when you change to the hip-hop look. there are way to maney ppl that look so stupid cuz they r white and they try to be black. so maney people at my school it is so annoying
you prob. will not get the best idea from me though.

People do it all the time (surprisingly). They usually get a size bigger in Hollister, Abercrombe, and AE hoodies, tees, and polos. Stick with darker colors.
People think hip hop is all about looking like a rapper now, no one really looks like that. If you look at ecko polos and AE polos they arent really that different
GL
