The lower the better. I think the average is between 60 and 72 for a resting heart rate, but people are sometimes able to get in the 48 range. At the same time, it’s probably not good for most people to have a heart rate in the 40’s, as that’s very low. Were you exercising when you took this? If so, retake it and compare it to a chart showing people your age, height, weight, etc.

That’s too high. The lower your heart rate, the healthier and better shape you are in.

72. World class athletes have 60. You may need to work on your fitness. Try walking at least 45 minutes a day and eating green vegetables.
