How do you count beats in music?

hey im learning how to count the beats in music so can any1 help me? n i dont have the sheet music or anything so basically im asking if anyone knows how to count the beats in everyday music i hear like hip hop and pop

it depends on how many beats are in each measure. like 3/4 (3 quarter notes per measure) or the most common one, 4/4. you basically just do 1 & 2 & 3 & 4 &. The numbers on the beat the & on up. (the eighth note).

start w/ 1 and time for 60 seconds, count the beats to 1 min. then totall what you’ve counted and acll it bpm, beats per min.

depends if its in a certain time signatures 3/4 or 4/4 or 2/4 of 6/8 there are alot of different ones

Music tempos are usually written in Beats Per Minute (BPM), so just count how many beats you hear for 1 minute. To figure out what the beat is, listen for the kick/bass drum or figure out where you naturally want to tap your foot to the music.
If you don’t want to take a whole minute just count them for 15 seconds and multiply by 4.
