There is nothing about the definition of rap saying that the content must involve pimps and ho's. But that's what seems to sell the records now so everyone jumps on that bandwagon. Look at Will Smith. Grant it he's more of an actor now, but when he rapped it wasn't "vulgar". Also, while I don't listen to it, there is "Christian Rap". Sounds like an oxy-moron at first but a few people I know that are more into the Contemporary Christian music are fans of Jesus Rap as I like to call it. Rap music i think is best separated from hip-hop in that it talks more about social, political, cultural, and sometimes historical issues.
