When I write my lyrics, I think of the tune that I would sing them to. Afterwards, I show the lyrics to my friends in my band, and give them a list of songs (sometimes even full albums) that influenced and that are similar to the song I wrote. I hum the tune, and they help me write out the notes. After that process is finished, 9 times out of 10 it sounds just how I imagined it.

well this all just depends on the writer..... alot of people prefer writing lyrics first and then adding instruents to it.....some people start with the instruments and then work the lyrics.......what a lot of musicians do too is to write a melody line and work around it adding harmonies and whatever they wanna do....

That really depends on the situation. Some songs I write start with a basic riff that I have been messing with. Sometimes a vocal part will just pop into my head that seems to fit it. Some riffs just evolve into a full blown instrumental. In some situations I will sit down with a keyboard and come up with a full blown backing track of bass, drums, and keys, and then add a guitar part later. Occasionally I will start form a lyric that has been floating in my head and build a song around that.
I hope that answers your question!

Most make the instrumentals first. Because they prefer to jam and many don't like to write lyrics so it is always left to last.
