I see rap as more beat oriented and hip hop as more lyric oriented
I hate it when people say "rap suuuuucks." its ignorant. You’ve probably only heard artists like Lil wayne and gucci mane. Look into some good hip hop.

De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest, Big L, Biggie Smalls, The Roots, OutKast, Pharoahe Monch, and Quasimoto (Madlib) are all great artists.
